Telluride Adaptive Sports Program

Telluride Adaptive Sports Program's Mission

Telluride Adaptive Sports Program is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities by providing educational and recreational opportunities that develop life skills, encourage personal growth, and promote independence. TASP offers adaptive skiing, rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, cycling clinics and a whole host of other activities that allow students to participate on an equal level with their family and friends in a safe, fun, outdoor environment. These challenging activities catalyze our students' ability to become more active, productive members of their communities.

TASP's clients include people with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities.  Physical disabilities include visual impairment (VI) , amputation, spinal injury, hearing impairment, or other conditions related to congenital physical issues or accidental injury.  Cognitive disabilities can be congenital or the result of injury.  Cognitive impairment may include development delays, autism, traumatic brain injury, down syndrome, or many other conditions which impact a persons ability to learn and interact with their environment.

TASP is highly recognized for their successful adaptive ski and snowboard program which has been in operation as an independent non-profit organization for thirteen years.  Their team of professional ski and snowboard instructors and trained volunteers provide lessons, ski buddy, and guiding services seven days a week from late November through early April at the Telluride Ski Area.

All lessons are available one-on-one or in a small group setting. A team of professional adaptive instructors and trained volunteers are available to meet your needs. On-snow volunteers accompany all sit-down skiers and those needing additional assistance during and after the lesson. Ski-buddy services are available for independent skiers and guiding services are available for hearing or visually-impaired skiers.
