Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking in Telluride
Telluride and Ridgway host fantasitc whitewater rafting trips throughout the summer. Often shallow and calm, the San Miguel River can burst with class II- IV rapids due to snowmelt and spring run-off. Kayaking trips are also available and is a fun alternative to whitewater rafting. The Telluride Kayak School offers smaller group trips with experienced guides and instructors. Their trips include the Norwood Canyon, Gunnison, and the San Juan River. Telluride Reservations Center has access to some of the area’s best guides and outfitters and can book anything from a half-day to a multi-day rafting adventure for all ages and all experience levels. Rafting season can start as early as mid-May and go as late as September, so be sure to include rafting in your summer trip plans. Taking a whitewater tour gives guests a chance to view the mountains from a different perspective and take in some excitement and adventure.
